The Wand is a system we use to give local anaesthetic almost completely painlessly. We find it works particularly well for nervous patients and for children, and it will change how you think about being numbed.
HOW IT WORKS
No Big Needle, No Hours of Feeling Numb
It works by placing a small amount of anaesthetic on the gum first, so there is no pain when the needle goes in. The anaesthetic is then released slowly, and in a way that numbs less of your mouth, with very little discomfort as it is carried out.
No more huge needles and syringes. No more feeling numb for hours after your treatment is done.
The most common fear we hear about is needles, and the worry that being numbed will hurt. The Wand removes that, which is why it makes such a difference for people who have been anxious about the dentist for years.
If you are still worried, there is more we can do. We book longer appointments so nothing is rushed, you can bring someone in with you or hold a nurse's hand, and we offer oral or intravenous sedation if you need it. Many patients who have only ever had treatment under sedation before find that here they manage without it.
