Dental Implants

If you have a missing tooth or a denture that will not stay put, an implant is a permanent way to fix it. It is a small titanium post that sits in the jaw where the root used to be, giving you a solid, natural-looking tooth you do not have to think about.

Treatment Overview

What is a Dental Implant?

An implant is a small titanium post that we place in your jaw, in the space where a natural tooth root used to be. Once it has healed, it acts as a firm anchor. We then fix a new tooth, a bridge, or a denture on top, so it looks and works like your own tooth.
If you have missing teeth or loose dentures, implants can be a long-term investment and solution. They suit most patients, and they often solve problems people did not know could be fixed. As well as giving you the missing tooth back, an implant takes the pressure off your remaining teeth, which lowers the risk of more teeth failing later. With regular maintenance and good care, implants can last for many years, which can save you time, money and further dental trouble down the line.
Most patients are pleasantly surprised by the whole thing, and by how straightforward and comfortable it turns out to be.
Implants can help if you:
  • Have one missing tooth and want it replaced permanently
  • Have several gaps and do not want a removable denture
  • Have a lower denture that moves or rubs when you eat or talk
  • Want to protect the teeth you still have from extra strain
  • Have been told you are not suitable elsewhere and want another opinion
What you get here:
  • Longer appointments, so nothing is rushed
  • A full assessment before anything is agreed
  • The Wand, for almost pain-free injections
  • Digital X-rays, with far less radiation
  • An itemised price in writing before treatment starts

The Process

How Dental Implants Work

01

An assessment first

Our implant dentist checks the gap, your gums and how much bone there is to hold an implant, using digital X-rays. This tells us whether an implant is right for you and what the plan looks like.

02

Placing the post

We numb the area with The Wand, then place the small titanium post into the jaw. Most patients are surprised at how little there is to it.

03

Time to heal

The post is left to heal and bond with the jawbone, so it becomes a solid anchor. Because every mouth heals differently, we tell you how long yours is likely to need.

04

Fitting your new tooth

Once it has bonded, we attach a small connector, called an abutment, to the post. Your new tooth, bridge or denture is then fixed on top of that.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions patients ask us.

A few of the things patients ask us most often. If your question isn't here, just get in touch — we're happy to talk it through.

Most people are, as long as there is enough healthy bone to hold the implant. The only way to know for certain is an assessment, where our implant dentist checks the gap, your gums and the bone with digital X-rays. If you have been turned away elsewhere, it is still worth asking us.

Most patients are surprised by how comfortable it is. We numb the area fully first, using The Wand for a gentle injection. If you are nervous, tell us when you book, and we can talk you through your options for staying relaxed, including sedation.

Every case is different, so we give you an itemised price after your assessment rather than a one-size-fits-all figure. You will know the full cost in writing before any treatment starts, and you can spread it with our Practice Plan or finance.

It is not a quick fix, and that is a good thing. After the post is placed it needs time to heal and bond with the jaw before your new tooth goes on top. Because every mouth is different, we give you a realistic timeline at your assessment.

Yes. This is one of the most popular reasons people come to us. Implants can anchor a denture that keeps moving, so it stays put when you eat and talk. We can talk you through this alongside your options for dentures.

With regular maintenance and good daily care, implants can last for many years. We cannot promise an exact figure, because it depends on your mouth and how they are looked after, but keeping up your check-ups helps them last.

Yes. We accept referrals for implant treatment. If your own dentist has suggested an implant, ask them to refer you, or get in touch with us directly.

Yes, and a lot of our patients came to us feeling exactly the same. Tell us before you come in. We use The Wand for almost pain-free injections, we allow longer appointments so nothing is rushed, and you can bring someone in with you or hold a nurse's hand. If you need it, we also offer oral or intravenous sedation.
