We are a small, private practice in Hythe, Southampton, and we have kept it that way on purpose. Because the team is small, you see a familiar face every time you come in, and we get the chance to know you properly rather than treat you as a name on a list.
That matters most when someone is worried about being here. We take the time to understand what you want from your teeth, and we build your care around you rather than pushing everyone through the same way.
We are a private practice, not an NHS one. In plain terms that means longer appointments, more time to talk things through, and no restrictions on the materials or techniques we can use to get you a good result.
HOW A VISIT FEELS
The Small Details That Make a Visit Easier
We pay attention to the parts of a dental visit that most practices overlook. A pillow if it helps you get comfortable in the chair. A hot drink before you go through if you are feeling anxious. Complimentary Costa cappuccinos, lattes and Cadbury's hot chocolate while you wait.
We have recently refurbished the waiting area and both surgeries, so the place feels less clinical and more like somewhere you would happily sit. There are comment cards in the waiting area too, if you ever want to tell us how we did, good or bad.
A lot of people put off the dentist for years, usually after a bad experience somewhere else. If that is you, you are in good company here, and we will not judge you for it.
The most common worry we hear is the needle, and the fear of it hurting when we numb the tooth. We use a system called The Wand, which numbs you without the big needle, the sting or the soreness. Most patients are surprised at how easy it is.
If you are still worried, there is more we can do. We give you longer appointments so nothing is rushed, you can bring someone in with you or hold a nurse's hand, and we offer oral or intravenous sedation to help you through. Many patients who have only ever managed treatment under sedation elsewhere find they do not need it once they are with us. If you ever need us, we aim to respond the same day.
Good equipment is not about showing off. Each piece we have invested in makes your treatment safer, more comfortable or more precise. We use digital X-rays, which are sharper and use far less radiation than old film. We have an endodontic microscope for precise root canal work. We use The Wand for almost pain-free injections, and EMS air polish for a gentler, more thorough clean.
