Usually two visits a few weeks apart. At the first we prepare the tooth, take a digital scan and fit a temporary crown. The laboratory then makes your permanent crown, which normally takes two to three weeks, and we fit it at the second visit.

No. We numb the tooth fully first, using The Wand for a gentle injection with no big needle and no sting. Most people find it much like having a filling done. If you are anxious, tell us when you book and we will take it at your pace.

A porcelain bonded to metal crown is from £805. We also offer other crown materials, which we will price for you after we have looked at the tooth. You get an itemised cost in writing before any work begins, and you can spread it with our Practice Plan or finance.

A crowned tooth does not need any special care, but the tooth underneath still needs protecting. Brush twice a day and clean between your teeth once a day, especially where the gum meets the crown. Try not to bite very hard things like ice, which can chip porcelain. If anything ever feels off, call us.

A well looked after crown can last many years. We cannot promise an exact figure, because it depends on the tooth and how it is cared for. Keeping up your check-ups lets us keep an
eye on it and catch any problem early.

Sometimes. If the tooth is decayed, at risk of infection, or the nerve is damaged, we may treat the root canal first so the tooth is stable before we crown it. We will always explain why before doing anything.

It depends on the tooth. A crown covers the whole tooth and is the better choice when a tooth is weak or heavily filled. A veneer is a thin facing used mainly to improve how a healthy tooth looks. If your concern is mostly appearance, our cosmetic team can talk you through both.

Yes. Tell us when you book. We use The Wand for almost pain-free injections, we allow longer appointments so nothing is rushed, and you can bring someone in with you or hold a nurse's hand. If you need it, we also offer oral or intravenous sedation.
